JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Centerstone is seeking final-year master's students for an unpaid School-Based Therapist Internship opportunity during the Fall 2026-2027 academic term.

This internship provides graduate students with the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience delivering behavioral health services to children and adolescents within a school-based setting. Under appropriate supervision, interns will support students through individual, family, and group therapy services while gaining experience in assessment, treatment planning, clinical documentation, and collaboration with families, school personnel, and other members of the student's support system.

This is an unpaid internship opportunity intended only for students who will be in the final year of an eligible master's degree program during the 2026-2027 academic year and who require an internship or field placement as part of their graduate program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide individual, family, and group therapy services under appropriate clinical supervision as part of internship or field placement requirements.

* Support children and adolescents experiencing behavioral health, emotional, social, and academic concerns.

* Complete initial assessments and assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of individualized treatment plans.

* Complete clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes.

* Collaborate professionally with students, families, school personnel, supervisors, and other members of the treatment team.

* Participate in supervision, training, team meetings, and other learning opportunities required by Centerstone and the student's graduate program.

* Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to organizational policies, ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and applicable school-based practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to communicate effectively in person and through virtual platforms.

* Interest in providing behavioral health services to children and adolescents in a school-based environment.

* Ability to build professional relationships and collaborate effectively with students, families, school personnel, supervisors, and treatment team members.

* Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to maintain timely and accurate documentation.

* Openness to supervision, feedback, professional development, and continued learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must be a final-year master's student in good standing and actively enrolled in an accredited graduate program in professional counseling, clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a closely related behavioral health field.
  • The student's academic program must require or approve an internship or field placement as part of the degree requirements.

Years of Experience

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, education, social services, or working with children and adolescents is preferred but not required.

* Internship participation and scheduling must meet Centerstone requirements and the field placement requirements of the student's graduate program.
