Position: Utility Production Maintenance III - Millwright Nature and Level of Work: * Perform skilled welding and fabrication work for the installation, repair, and maintenance of utility production systems and equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, measuring and adjusting components, evaluating conditions, and replacing parts as needed. Projects range from routine preventive maintenance to complex repairs requiring diagnostic expertise. Key Responsibilities: * Conduct thorough inspections of all utility production mechanical equipment to identify necessary repairs and develop prioritized work plans. Perform repairs as needed, which may include valve repair, steam and water pipe fitting, plumbing, painting, steam trap repair, and installation of utility production equipment using specialized tools. Responsibilities may also involve installing and maintaining water, chilled water, air, gas, oil, and steam piping, along with pipe hangers and specialty components. Notify supervisors of potential issues discovered during inspections and maintenance. Recommend or assist in determining the most effective repair solutions. * Assist in coordinating outage work and developing work plans for upcoming plant equipment repairs. Utilize work order management software to track work orders and perform scheduled preventive maintenance. Collaborate with other trades and maintenance staff to complete repairs as needed. * Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment required for daily tasks, including hand tools, grinders, drills, band and disk cutters, propane and acetylene torches, grit blasters, and lathes. Perform rigging and heavy lifting of materials using chain and cable hoists, engine hoists, pallet jacks, forklifts, and portable cranes. Responsibilities may include fabricating parts or specialized tools for repairs. Assist operations with boiler, chiller, and baghouse systems during start-up, shutdown, and system upsets as needed. * Collaborate with utility production supervisors and engineering teams on projects and maintenance activities. Responsibilities include preparing material lists, reviewing inventory requirements, analyzing schematics, construction drawings, and equipment manuals, and assisting with recordkeeping. * Coordinate work safely with the plant operations team to ensure reliability of plant equipment, following all utility production safety and maintenance policies and procedures. Work is often performed in areas with limited access, such as baghouse compartments, boiler fireboxes, boiler drums, water boxes, and cooling towers, and may require working at heights or in extreme temperatures. Duties may involve exposure to fly ash, biomass, coal dust, and high noise levels; proper PPE must be used at all times. Collaborate with operations staff to remove systems from service and return them to operation as needed. * May oversee and coordinate the work of personnel assigned to plant projects. Assist with training and share knowledge of plant systems to support team development and operational efficiency. * Perform other duties as assigned. Skilled in the methods and practices of utility production and industrial maintenance and mechanical repair. Skilled in the installation and repair of heavy rotating equipment, precision coupling alignments, overhaul of pumps, compressors, turbine, fans, gearboxes, conveyors, drag chains, etc. Must possess a valid driver's license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.
