Teacher Aides
The Queensbury Union Free School District is accepting applications for full-time Teacher Aides for the High School and Middle School, effective September 2026.
Position Details
- Full-time, 10-month position
- 7 hours per day
- Starting salary: $18.79 per hour
- Actual salary based on education and experience pursuant to the wage schedule posted on the District website.
General Responsibilities
Teacher Aides provide non-teaching services under the general supervision of certified personnel while supporting students' educational, behavioral, physical, and personal needs.
Essential Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervising students and performing support services under the direction of certified teachers.
- Working with individual students or small groups to reinforce remedial reading and mathematics skills.
- Assisting with physical care tasks and health-related activities, including lifting, moving, and operating adaptive equipment; lifting and rotating students as necessary; and assisting students with personal care, including lavatory assistance, clothing, hygiene, diapering, toileting, and wash-up routines.
- Escorting students as assigned by teachers or administrators and assisting with mobility needs, including lifting and positioning students, transferring students in and out of wheelchairs, loading and unloading buses, transporting students throughout the school, and accompanying students on field trips.
- Assisting students on the playground, including lifting students into adaptive swings or climbing equipment.
- Assisting students with changing into swimwear and entering and exiting pool areas.
- Supporting students during Physical Education and other special-area classes.
- Assisting students during emergency evacuations, including lifting or carrying students when necessary.
- Supporting students with behavioral and classroom management needs, including implementing behavior intervention plans, utilizing de-escalation strategies, and participating in physical restraint procedures when required.
- Assisting with proctoring examinations and related testing activities.
- Supervising study halls, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other assigned areas.
- Assisting with correcting test papers, recording grades, maintaining files, and preparing statistical reports.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
This position requires significant standing, walking, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Applicants must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and possess the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Successful candidates must pass written and physical Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Strategies (TCIS) assessments and maintain TCIS certification.
