Summary:

The Hospital Quality Leader (HQL) for health system quality collaboratives is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the collaborative agenda, meeting, preparatory meeting, project management and follow up on collaborative tasks and initiatives. The HQL will assist and coordinate with the Collaborative Chairs regarding system-wide quality objectives and key initiatives. The HQL will serve as the central coordinator among system leadership, clinical teams, analytics partners, and fellow quality leaders to drive execution, monitor performance, and address variation, risks, and barriers. Oversees Collaborative metrics and dashboards, data integrity, and reporting while fostering cross-entity collaboration to standardize best practices and accelerate improvement. Ensures alignment with organizational objectives and strategic goals while serving as project manager for current improvement initiatives and tasks chartered by the Collaborative.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination, facilitation, and project management of Collaborative meetings, functions, and projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding of system quality strategy and enterprise priorities as they relate to deliverables for the assigned programmatic area
  • Serves as the central point of coordination between system leadership, entity quality teams, clinical leaders, analytics partners, and operational stakeholders to drive program execution, providing direct leadership of the program and indirect ownership across the entire scope of the program
  • Oversees development, maintenance, and governance of program charters, dashboards, measures, and performance monitoring processes, ensuring transparency and accountability
  • Leads system level performance management, including identification of variation, prioritization of improvement opportunities, and escalation of risks or barriers impacting results
  • Partners closely with data, analytics, and registry teams to define metrics, validate data integrity, and ensure actionable insights support improvement work
  • Ensures alignment of the Collaborative agenda and improvement plan with external quality frameworks and ratings (e.g., CMS, Vizient, Leapfrog), while maintaining focus on internal clinical improvement goals
  • Supports development and preparation of system and executive level updates, including steering committees, quality oversight bodies, and senior leadership forums, synthesizing performance, risks, and mitigation strategies
  • Manages interdependencies with related system initiatives (Care Redesign, Pathways, Safety, Accreditation, Analytics) to avoid duplication and ensure coordinated execution
  • Drives use of improvement methodologies and structured project management to support reliable execution, sustainability, and measurable outcomes across entities
  • Identifies resource needs, capacity gaps, and implementation risks, and works with system leaders to develop mitigation strategies and prioritization recommendations
  • Maintains a system perspective, balancing enterprise consistency with entity specific context, readiness, and operational realities
Other Information

Education Requirements:

If non-clinical:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Science or Health Care-related field.
  • Master's degree preferred

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

If clinical:

  • clinical education required (degree or certification or license acceptable, RN, PT, OT, SLP, NP, PA, RRT, LCSW)

Professional Experience Requirements:

If non-clinical:

  • If Master's degree: five (5) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation) -OR- If Bachelor's degree: seven (7) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation). Previous healthcare experience required.

If clinical:

  • Clinical Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare managerial role, or healthcare educator role -OR- Four (4) years of experience in a clinical setting - for example: inpatient, outpatient, home health or hospice. AND
  • Professional Experience: If Master's degree: three (3) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation) -OR- If Bachelor's degree: five (5) years of relevant experience (eg - healthcare, business, consulting, strategy, project management, quality, performance improvement, design and implementation). Clinical leadership and healthcare experience required.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

  • Proven ability to lead complex project initiatives in a clinical and/or business environment
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to excel and achieve results in a team-oriented, matrixed environment
  • Experience leading groups of stakeholders/leaders to achieve quantifiable results
  • Knowledge of project and change management techniques and tools
  • Highly responsive to internal customers * Proficient in Office Suite tools.
  • Understands healthcare cost structures at a high level.
  • Project Management or Lean/Six Sigma Certification or equivalent preferred
