Job Summary

The Accountant I is responsible for supporting revenue accounting activities across digital and streaming business units, with a primary focus on revenue recognition, contract review, and sales order processing. This role partners closely with Sales and Client Services teams to ensure revenue transactions are accurately recorded, compliant with accounting standards and internal controls, and properly reflected in financial reporting. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Review customer contracts and sales orders to ensure proper setup and compliance with revenue recognition requirements.
  • Ensure revenue is recognized accurately, timely, and in accordance with GAAP and SOX controls.
  • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, revenue calculations, accruals, and supporting analyses.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations related to revenue accounts.
  • Monitor and analyze revenue transactions and investigate revenue variances.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from Sales and Client Services teams regarding media orders and revenue-related issues.
  • Resolve sales order data exceptions and ensure accurate integration of order information into ERP systems.
  • Process delivery adjustments and updates for media sales orders.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Client Services teams to provide guidance on revenue recognition requirements and order processing procedures.
  • Support ad hoc training initiatives and contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with quarterly SOX compliance activities, internal audits, and external audit requests.
  • Participate in ad hoc financial analyses, reporting requests, and special accounting projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives within the revenue accounting function.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience with revenue accounting, revenue recognition, contract review, or related accounting functions required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Experience using Oracle or a major ERP system required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including lookup functions and pivot tables.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and revenue recognition concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience within the advertising, digital media, or streaming industry preferred.
  • Experience with media sales order processing and contract administration preferred.
  • Experience using Operative One and Salesforce preferred.
  • Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes preferred.
