About the Job

This is a short-term, temporary Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) position as Teaching Specialist hire to teach and paid on a per course basis for the Department of Entomology at the University of Minnesota.

Teaching Specialists provide classroom teaching for courses that supplement the faculty offerings and/or expertise of the faculty. The teaching specialist also provides a source of classroom substitute instruction. The title may be used for credit and non-credit courses, workshops, seminars and conferences. It is not normally expected that persons in this classification would be expected to fulfill the other missions of the University. Service to the unit, college, or campus may be expected.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach courses
  • Advise students with regard to academic concerns and school-related organizations
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent degree in Entomology or a closely related field at the time the appointment begins.
  • Experience with college/university teaching in Entomology or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Experience working with diverse teams and students from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Experience with curriculum development

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $8,195.00; paid out bi-weekly over the term
