Thomson Reuters is seeking a Staff Software Engineer. This person will be experienced in C# and lead advanced cloud AI services. Below is an overview of the responsibilities and criteria for this opportunity.

About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

  • Leverage your expert-level C# programming skills todesign, develop, and implement highly scalable, resilient, and secure enterprise AI services. This includes building foundational components for Agentic AI, LLM orchestration, and intelligent automation.

  • Lead the technical integration and utilization of advanced cloud AI services likeAzure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI, and other emergingAgentic AI technologiesto deliver cutting-edge solutions to Thomson Reuters product teams.

  • Build cloud-based solutions in AWS, Azure, and GCP clouds to support the delivery of AI technology to teams and products at TR

  • Develop robust API layers using platforms likeAzure API Management and Google Cloud APIGEEto expose AI capabilities securely and efficiently.

  • Providehands-on technical leadership and mentorshipto a team of Enterprise AI Services engineers, fostering best practices in software development, C# coding standards, and platform reliability.

  • Drive agile development practices (Scrum/Kanban), ensuring clear visibility of work, efficient backlog management, and timely delivery of platform enhancements.

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert, unblocking complex challenges and ensuring high-quality, production-ready code.

  • Proactivelyresearch, evaluate, and prototype new AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI architectures, assessing their maturity and strategic alignment with business and technology goals to inform the platform roadmap.

  • Champion and embedsecurity-by-design principlesinto all AI platform components and services. Collaborate closely with the Thomson Reuters information security team to implement robust enterprise-grade security features, addressing unique AI security concerns (e.g., prompt injection, data poisoning).

  • Prepare and present high-quality technical and non-technical documentation, effectively communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate technical and operational risks associated with deploying and scaling AI systems.

About You:
You're a potential fit for the role of Staff Software Engineer, if you have

  • B.S./B.A. Computer Science or related field; or equivalent level of experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software development and platform engineering, with a significant focus on cloud-native architectures.

  • Expert-level proficiency in C# development, with demonstrable experience building and deploying complex, highly scalable, and performant distributed systems and APIs.

  • Previous Software or Cloud engineering and development experience required.

  • UNIX/Linux administration experience required

  • AWS Cloud experience required (Cloud Practitioner and higher AWS certification preferred)

  • Azure Cloud experience required (AZ-900 or AI-900 and higher Azure certification preferred)

  • Google Cloud experience (APIGEE) is an asset

  • Understanding of vector capabilities and other AI functions.

  • Demonstrated use of CI/CD technologies is a plus, understanding of tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, JFrog Artifactory, Docker preferred.

  • Demonstrated use of programming languages like Python, SQL is an asset, C# required.

  • Strong passion for technology and a willingness to learn new skills

  • Self-motivation and self-direction, ability to translate technical direction and apply to specific work responsibilities

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to investigate complex issues spanning multiple technologies

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $127,400 USD - $236,600 USD. For Ontario, Canada, the base compensation range for this role is $148,800 CAD - $198,800 CAD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
