Job Summary: This exempt management position leads all regional safety personnel and focuses on developing, implementing, and managing ACCO's comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. The Director acts as a key consultant, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety laws (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA) and regulations, and represents the company in related hearings. Key responsibilities include facilitating cultural change, managing training and incident investigations, and providing technical guidance, all while collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and drive continuous performance improvement. Supervises: Safety management, safety professionals, and other support staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads regional safety personnel and the Safety Leadership Team to facilitate cultural change, drive safety performance, and mentor management toward achieving an injury-free workplace.
- Acts as the primary technical consultant for labor laws and safety regulations (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA), representing the company in related hearings and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies.
- Oversees the safety inspection and audit process across all regional divisions, performing field engagements to identify hazards and ensure the timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Collects and analyzes health and safety statistical data to identify injury trends and prepare management reports for strategic planning and decision-making.
- Develops, schedules, and tracks safety-related training curricula and programs to ensure workforce compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Manages safety staff and resources, including recruitment, workload delegation, personnel administration, and professional development of high-performing teams.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive incident investigation program, ensuring timely documentation, root cause analysis, and preventative recommendations.
- Oversees injury management, including tracking medical care and return-to-work processes, while collaborating with Risk Management to handle workers' compensation claims.
- Partners with Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Executive leadership to align safety goals and coordinates with insurance carriers and brokers regarding loss control.
- Serves as the company representative for environmental protection concerns, interfacing with regulatory agencies and auditing project site compliance.
- Attends prequalification and client meetings to present safety metrics and initiatives and prepares safety-related input for bid proposals.
- Manages office evacuation plans, natural disaster preparedness drills, and company-wide mass notifications during emergencies.
- Develops, implements, and monitors safety incentive and recognition programs designed to close performance gaps.
- Facilitates tailgates, stand downs, and work stoppages to address immediate safety concerns and communicate mitigation strategies.
- Ensures the accurate maintenance of safety records, hazard analysis data, and audit tracking.
- Stays current on emerging safety, environmental, and operational risks through "horizon scanning" and participation in professional organizations.
- Assuming additional responsibilities as directed by the executive.

Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction, maintenance, safety, or operations is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in related industries, such as mechanical contracting or comparable commercial/industrial construction.
- Minimum 10 years of Safety management experience.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited degree program in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field of study, OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Required:
- Must have a valid driver's license meeting company requirements.
- CHST or CSP Certification required.

Travel Requirements: Must be available to travel between multiple sites. Hours: This is an Exempt position, typically working Monday through Friday. Work hours are generally scheduled to begin and end during work-site hours. Flexibility in the exact start and end times, subject to business needs and prior supervisor approval.
