Senior Research Technologist

The successful candidate will support and execute experimental protocols, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure accurate data collection and analysis associated with mass spectrometry research studies. This role requires a strong technical background in biochemistry laboratory procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Senior Research Technologist will also assist in training junior staff and contribute to maintaining a high standard of laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Schedules and organizes sample receipt and subsequent study analysis by Protein Sciences within Scientific Services
  • Lead and coordinate research projects, ensuring timely and successful completion
  • Maintains and calibrates mass spectrometry instrumentation
  • Utilize biochemistry methodology to process biological samples for mass spectrometry or related experiments
  • Perform common laboratory techniques with a focus on protein extraction, metabolite extraction, and protein quantification
  • Participates in process improvement and troubleshooting
  • Train and mentor junior research staff and technicians, fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of experimental results through rigorous quality control procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Biology, biochemistry, or equivalent laboratory experience
  • Mass spectrometry operations experience is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot experimental issues effectively
  • Proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques, data analysis software, and research methodologies.
  • Detail orientated, flexible, ability to multi-task and remain focused.
  • Week-end and holiday work may be required on a rotating basis or as dictated by research needs.

Experience Required/Preferred: 3 years/ 5 years

Education Required/ Preferred: High School Diploma or GED/ Bachelor's

Pay Range: $20.55 - $34.41
