The Environmental Manager is responsible for supporting environmental compliance programs across company operations, with a focus on environmental permitting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), waste disposal, inspections and regulatory reporting. This role works closely with operations, safety, maintenance, and regulatory agencies to ensure that activities are conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support environmental permitting activities, including permit applications, renewals, modifications, recordkeeping, and compliance tracking.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), including inspections, corrective actions, best management practices, and required documentation.
  • Oversee waste management and disposal programs, including hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, universal waste, recycling, and contractor coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, including Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, stormwater discharge requirements, spill prevention requirements, and applicable state and local rules.
  • Conduct routine environmental inspections, audits, and field assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.

  • Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to their manager / supervisor, who will then follow the procedures contained in company and carrier Safety and Security procedures.
  • Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific health, wellbeing, safety, and security rules or procedures.
  • Fully understand AGI Health & Safety and Security policies.
  • Attend training courses as may be required by AGI.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift / carry / push / pull and lift items weighing up to 60 pounds (or more with a team lift) when providing onsite support.
  • Must be able to use close vision and sit for long periods of time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Safety Leadership - Demonstrates sound judgement, accountability, and commitment to proactive risk management.
  • Good Communication Skills -Must be able to communicate information and effectively communicate instructions verbally and/or email and phone.
  • Collaboration: Builds productive relationships with operational teams, leaders, and subject matter experts.
  • Project Execution - Organizes complex work, manages deadlines and drives progress across multiple stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills - Ability to develop realistic corrective actions and to balance regulatory requirements with operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, OSHA HAZWOPER, or similar environmental certification.
  • Experience working with NPDES stormwater permits, construction general permits, industrial stormwater permits, or local environmental permits.
  • Experience supporting regulatory agency inspections, audits, notices of violation, or corrective action plans.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.If work location is in Canada, must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001.
