The Associate Director of Facility Services is a full-time role reporting to the Director of Facilities & Operations. This position is responsible for the comprehensive planning, development, implementation, supervision, fiscal management, and assessment of our facilities maintenance, grounds, custodial, and audio visual services to meet the needs of our campus community.

As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Associate Director plays a crucial role in ensuring small capital projects (up to $600,000) that enhance, maintain safety requirements, or improve efficiency of three indoor facilities (the Nicholas Recreation Center, the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center, and Nielsen Tennis Stadium) and 60 acres of outdoor spaces are completed at a high level of quality.

The Associate Director will lead and support the professional development of three direct reports and 38 indirect reports.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Develops and fosters a working relationship with university and state professional architects and engineers, project managers, building construction superintendents, and outside contractors while representing staff and residents
  • Provides operational and strategic guidance to staff
  • Determines and directs standards for routine and preventative work orders, warehouse/purchasing tracking, building and grounds projects, and use of automated maintenance
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Develops priorities and implementation strategies for creating custodial and maintenance standards, schedules, and labor requirements for routine and emergency repairs, housekeeping, preventative maintenance programs, grounds work, warehouse functions, renovations, and capital improvement projects
  • Reviews work place health and safety expectations with employees and provides instruction as needed
  • Directs the planning and scheduling of building maintenance and remodeling activities, incorporating operational requirements and priorities
  • Directs the security, custodial, grounds, recycling, repairs, maintenance, and utility services of facilities to ensure they meet the needs of the university and its employees

Compensation:

The minimum salary for the position is $87,000. The expected salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $105,000.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time experience that includes a broad range of facility management and/or collegiate recreation experience

  • Experience in project management and implementation

  • Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with external vendors and contractors

  • Knowledge of facility maintenance and safety protocols

  • Experience developing and managing budgets

  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership team members, colleagues, and campus partners

  • Demonstrated and proven leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years supervising full-time staff

Additional Details:
  • Typical working hours between 8:00am - 4:30pm. Some night and weekend hours may be required.

  • This position is eligible for up to the equivalent of one work day remote.
