Job Description

We have an opening for a Senior Intelligence Analyst to join an interdisciplinary team conducting analysis to support the Iran South Asia (IRSA) group and other analytic groups within the International Assessments (IA) Program. As a Senior Intelligence Analyst of the IA Program, the individual will perform analysis and lead projects that integrate complex information from all sources into finished assessments and make formal verbal and written presentations, interface with Program sponsors and Intelligence Community (IC) stakeholders and contribute to project and organizational goals. This position is in the International Assessments (IA) Program within the Global Security Principal Directorate's Z Program.

In this role, you will

  • Guide and provide independent research on sensitive, politically significant national security topics, with a focus on foreign nuclear programs.
  • Provide solutions to highly unusual, complex problems that require in-depth analysis and present analytic findings in support of sponsor and stakeholder objectives, in accordance with Intelligence Community analytic standards.
  • Lead highly complex analytic tasks and contribute subject matter knowledge on national security issues to inform the development of strategies and plans, and meet programmatic objectives.
  • Provide scientific and technical direction to new program opportunities, including to define and develop research proposals and interact with potential sponsors and customers.
  • Successfully utilize existing work, internal resources, and partnerships to develop innovative capabilities to increase the impact of LLNL and lead the development of project portfolios.
  • Maintain required security in a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment for information under the analyst's direct control.
  • Act as the senior technical expert on multiple intelligence related tasks and large projects, working effectively across a range of conflicting priorities.
  • Develop proposals for analytic papers, studies, and research topics and create innovative technical tools and evaluate competing characteristics to determine solutions that meet stakeholder objectives; provide decision insight to customers and stakeholders in highly complex problem areas.
  • Mentor staff across the organization and attract and retain new staff.
  • Champion large projects and multi-laboratory efforts to positively impact the team's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.Also, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working within the Intelligence Community (IC) on current national security issues.
  • Extensive experience working with multidisciplinary teams in achieving project objectives; demonstrated strength in partnering with other National Laboratories and outside organizations successfully.
  • Extensive experience and proven success conducting in-depth research and analytical assessments, writing detailed papers for both expert- and senior-level audiences, and writing products that effectively convey highly unusual, complex analytical methods and results.
  • Expert-level knowledge in leading the application and development of principles, theories, and concepts in a creative and innovative fashion.
  • Expert-level experience developing proposals and establishing and securing partnerships for multidisciplinary analytic studies on issues affecting national security, while contributing to programmatic sustainment and growth by identifying and addressing highly unusual, complex sponsor needs and creating innovative technical tools or technically informed research products to meet stakeholder and research objectives.
  • Extensive experience working across analytic and technical organizational work units, with demonstrated effective teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Extensive experience and proven success working effectively under deadlines, coordinating workloads on multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting deadlines with conflicting priorities.
  • Recognized by stakeholders and partners as a national subject matter expert on relevant national security related technical topics.
  • Expert communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment; author intelligence analyses; and present and explain technical information to external sponsors and customers.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to present analyses to sponsors and IC stakeholders as well as to meet with IC counterparts and sponsors.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Active Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Strong and sustained publication record in the intelligence community, as lead author, in one or more relevant national security issue areas, with demonstrated impact.
  • Experience producing analytic products that meet intelligence community analytic tradecraft standards.
  • Significant experience successfully managing and leading multidisciplinary project teams with expert verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively collaborate with internal and external teams, and to advise and influence senior management and external sponsors.
  • Significant experience and expertise working with or for an Intelligence Community organization and interfacing with senior-level interagency partners and working groups.
  • Extensive experience directing technical staff and projects to achieve organizational objectives and goals in the national security arena.
  • Highly effective problem-solving and decision-making skills necessary to independently address challenging, highly unusual, complex problems.
  • Extensive experience developing creative concepts, programmatic activities, program development plans, and engagement strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Intelligence Community roles, organizations, procedures and practices and current cognizance of intelligence and/or military sensitive programs of record.

Pay Range:

$252,810 - $320,580 Annually

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
