Specialist, Middle Office II BNY is seeking a Specialist II to join our Middle Office Bank Loans team. In this role, you will support the operational lifecycle of bank loan transactions, serving as a key point of coordination between internal teams, clients, counterparties, and external agents. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, client-focused, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Support the daily processing and oversight of bank loan transactions across the trade lifecycle.
- Review trade capture, allocations, settlements, and funding activity for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with front office, investment managers, custodians, agent banks, and counterparties to resolve trade and settlement exceptions.
- Monitor pending transactions and proactively follow up on breaks, fails, and outstanding items.
- Perform reconciliations and investigate discrepancies related to positions, cash, and loan activity.
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with internal controls, operating procedures, and risk management standards.
- Assist with new deal closings, amendments, restructurings, and other lifecycle events as applicable.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit, compliance, and client reporting purposes.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, control, and client experience.
- Escalate issues appropriately and support timely resolution of operational risks or service concerns.
- Partner with team members and stakeholders to meet service level expectations and business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant experience in financial services, operations, middle office, loan operations, or asset servicing preferred.
- Basic understanding of bank loan products, trade lifecycle, settlements, and operational workflows is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting syndicated bank loans or alternative investment operations.
- Familiarity with loan processing platforms, reconciliation tools, or custody/settlement systems.
- Understanding of risk and control frameworks within operations.
- Continuous improvement mindset with interest in automation or workflow optimization.
