To learn more about playing for Team Amcor, visitwww.amcor.comILinkedInIGlassdoorIFacebook IYouTube Job DescriptionAbout the Role The Inspection Systems Engineer provides technical expertise and project support for inspection systems across Amcor's Global Rigids Packaging Solutions manufacturing network. This role is responsible for improving existing inspection technologies and deploying new capabilities for vision inspection, leak detection, metal detection, and other automated quality systems. Working closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Automation, Maintenance, OEMs, and system integrators, the role drives improvements in inspection performance, system reliability, quality outcomes, and standardization across global manufacturing sites. What You Get to Do * Support the improvement, optimization, and sustainment of inspection systems across RPS manufacturing sites, including vision inspection, leak detection, metal detection, and other automated quality inspection platforms. * Troubleshoot complex inspection system issues related to detection performance, false rejects, missed defects, lighting, cameras, sensors, controls interfaces, reject handling, recipe management, and system repeatability. * Partner with plant Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Automation teams to improve inspection capability, equipment reliability, and product quality performance. * Support commissioning, startup, validation, and handoff of new or upgraded inspection systems, ensuring systems are properly configured, documented, and capable of meeting plant and customer quality requirements. * Develop, refine, and support standards for inspection system setup, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing performance monitoring. * Identify opportunities to reduce false rejects, improve defect detection, reduce scrap, and improve production efficiency through better inspection system performance. * Evaluate new inspection technologies, suppliers, system architectures, and application approaches to support future capability needs across RPS. * Provide technical input for capital projects involving new inspection systems, production lines, automation upgrades, quality improvements, and equipment modernization efforts. * Support supplier and OEM engagement, including technical reviews, design input, FAT/SAT participation, issue resolution, and performance follow-up. * Train and coach plant personnel on inspection system operation, basic troubleshooting, system care, and performance expectations. * Document system performance, improvement actions, lessons learned and recommended best practices to enable repeatable deployment across sites. Required Qualifications * Degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience may be considered. * Experience supporting inspection systems, automation systems, quality systems, manufacturing equipment, or production line technology in a manufacturing environment. * Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical equipment issues and implement sustainable corrective actions. * Ability to travel approximately 50-60% to support manufacturing sites globally. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings, recommendations, standards, and improvement actions. * Ability to work effectively in plant environments and interact with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with industrial vision systems, camera setup, lighting design, image processing tools, reject tracking, sensor integration, PLC/HMI interfaces, or machine controls. * Experience with bottle, container, closure, injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, packaging, or high-speed manufacturing environments. * Familiarity with quality validation, defect libraries, recipe management, inspection standards, calibration methods, and customer quality expectations. * Experience working with OEMs, integrators, equipment suppliers, and plant technical teams during equipment design, startup, commissioning, and performance improvement. * Practical knowledge of continuous improvement, root cause analysis, Lean manufacturing, reliability improvement, or process capability methods.
