Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Location: USA - CO - Colorado Springs - 2135 Southgate Road

First week will be with the trainer at the Broadmoor CO PSC. 2 nd week will be onsite.

Duration: 3 months

Schedule: Monday-Saturday 5am-9am

Vaccines required: RHepatitis B

Summary:

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.

Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.

Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Recent phlebotomy experience with successful venipuncture skills.
  • Experience performing blood draws in a clinical or patient service environment.
  • Comfortable performing collections on patients of all age groups, including infants through geriatrics.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate electronic laboratory systems.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and accuracy

  • What is the work environment? (Patient service center, doctor's office) IOP - Behavioral Health
  • If this is a patient service center, how big is the location? Bigger
  • How long is the worker expected to stand? Most of their shift
  • Are there any specialties? (Pediatric, geriatric) 4 years old to 75 years old is the age group they are drawing on.
  • Will this person work with a team or alone? Nurses and staff of the clinic around them - but drawing alone. No one else to fall back on if they need help drawing.


How many weeks of training are required at the start of this role? First two weeks are training and in the field.
