Job Title: Phlebotomist I

Location: 120 Highland Center Dr., Ste 130B, Columbia, SC 29220

Duration: 3+ Months (Contract to Possible Hire)

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (40 Hours/Week)

Description:

Summary:

The main function of a Phlebotomist is to perform blood collection, specimen processing, and provide excellent patient care while following established laboratory procedures and safety protocols.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Perform 40-50 blood draws per day.



  • Collect blood specimens using straight and butterfly needles.



  • Work with patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.



  • Label, centrifuge, process, package, and prepare specimens for transport.



  • Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes to ensure accuracy.



  • Store specimens according to required temperature and protocol.



  • Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation.



  • Follow OSHA and laboratory safety regulations.



  • Provide excellent customer service while explaining collection procedures to patients.



  • Perform specimen processing and assist with daily laboratory workflow.



  • Answer patient inquiries and assist with administrative duties as needed.




Minimum Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED.



  • Recent Phlebotomy experience.



  • Comfortable performing 40-50 blood draws daily.



  • Experience working with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.



  • Proficient with straight needles and butterfly needles.



  • Basic computer skills.



  • Strong customer service skills.




Preferred Qualifications:


  • Drug screening experience.



  • Previous Patient Service Center (PSC), hospital, or clinic experience.



  • Specimen processing experience.




Additional Details:


  • Contract duration is approximately 3 months with the potential for extension and conversion to a full-time LabCorp employee.



  • Two weeks of onsite training will be provided.



  • Candidate will work as part of a team.



  • Position requires standing approximately 5-6 hours per shift.



  • No travel is required.



  • Strong attention to detail and compliance with laboratory procedures are essential.
