Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: Itasca, IL (Float Position covering Itasca, Joliet, Mokena, Matteson, Palos Park, Oak Brook, Tinley Park, Chicago, Evanston, and Waukegan, IL, Naperville, IL)
Duration: 3 Months (Contract to Possible Hire)
Schedule: Full-Time | 1st Shift | Monday - Friday (Availability between 6:00 AM - 7:30 PM depending on assigned location) | Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Vaccines Required:
Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Phlebotomist II is to perform blood collection, specimen processing, and provide exceptional patient care while adhering to established laboratory procedures, safety standards, and compliance requirements. This is a float position covering multiple Patient Service Centers throughout the greater Chicago area. The ideal candidate must be a highly skilled phlebotomist with 3-4 years of experience performing venipuncture on patients ranging from neonatal through geriatric with minimal supervision.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections using proper collection techniques.
Collect blood specimens from patients of all age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
Process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, packaging, and preparing samples for transport.
Verify laboratory requisition forms and ensure accurate specimen identification.
Maintain proper specimen storage according to laboratory guidelines.
Accurately document patient information and collection details in the laboratory system.
Travel between multiple Patient Service Center locations as assigned to provide phlebotomy coverage.
Follow OSHA guidelines and all laboratory safety and compliance procedures.
Provide excellent customer service while explaining collection procedures and ensuring patient comfort.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
3-4 years of recent phlebotomy experience.
Proven experience performing venipuncture on patients from neonatal through geriatric age groups.
Skilled phlebotomist capable of working independently with minimal training on blood collection procedures.
Specimen processing experience.
Basic computer skills (training will be provided on Labcorp systems).
Reliable attendance and dependable work history.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between multiple assigned locations.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous float phlebotomy experience.
Experience working in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or clinical laboratory setting.
Strong specimen handling and processing knowledge.
Ability to adapt quickly to different work locations and patient populations.
Additional Details:
Contract assignment through October 18, 2026, with the potential for conversion to a full-time Labcorp employee.
This position is an Open FTE/Vacancy.
Candidate must be available to work between 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM depending on the assigned location, as well as Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Negative THC drug screen is required.
Color Vision Screening is required.
Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are not required.
Conversion compensation will be determined by the Labcorp Talent Acquisition team based on the candidate's experience.
