Summary Job Description:
BHCOR-Staff Development I Corbin, KY
Serves as an educator for primarily nursing but also various disciplines throughout the hospital and independently assumes a variety of roles in the Education Department. Included in this multifunctional role are the responsibilities of planning, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating house-wide classes, patient care orientation, continuing education and in-service education and working with multidisciplinary teams as needed. Will be responsible for assigned units.
Assess educational needs and develop, coordinate, and deliver orientation, continuing education, and competency-based training programs. Facilitate clinical orientation, instructor-led courses, in-services, workshops, and certification programs including BLS, ACLS, PALS, HeartCode, and other assigned certifications. Coach and support new employees, preceptors, leaders, and clinical staff to promote professional growth and evidence-based practice. Collaborate with department leaders, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to improve clinical competencies, standardize practice, and enhance patient outcomes. Develop, evaluate, and revise educational curricula, competency assessments, and learning materials based on current research, regulatory requirements, and organizational needs. Serve as a clinical resource and consultant, recommending practice improvements and supporting quality, safety, and regulatory initiatives. Participate in committees, community education, and organizational projects that advance staff development and organizational goals. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, infection prevention practices, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety requirements.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. Minimum three years of RN experience; prior teaching experience preferred. Current Kentucky or Compact State Registered Nurse (RN) license. American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor certifications required. Must obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor (BLSI), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor (ACLSI), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor (PALSI) certifications within six months of hire. Board certification in applicable specialty areas preferred.
