Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

The Head of Trade Finance leads the bank's global trade finance business and strategy, positioning First Citizens as a market leader in trade finance solutions. This role is responsible for the end-to-end trade finance business across all First Citizens clientele, including sales strategy, revenue growth, product strategy and delivery, risk management and controls, team leadership, and close partnership with banking and credit teams. The role sits within the Global Banking & Markets Solutions organization and requires a business leader who can run a P&L, build and develop a high-performing specialist team, shape strategy, and engage with senior clients and internal stakeholders.


Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Vision - Develop and execute the long-term strategy for the trade finance business. Drive innovation in trade finance products and services. Align trade finance strategies with overall bank objectives and market opportunities.

Business Growth and Market Expansion - Identify and pursue opportunities for expanding the trade finance business globally. Lead strategic partnerships and potential acquisitions in the trade finance space. Drive revenue growth and profitability of the trade finance product line.

Team Leadership and Organizational Development - Lead and mentor senior executives across the trade finance division. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and client-centric service. Develop and implement strategies for attracting and retaining top talent.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement - Serve as the senior relationship manager for strategic global clients and partners. Represent SVB as a thought leader at high-profile industry events and forums. Engage with regulators and industry bodies on trade finance matters.

Risk and Governance Oversight - Establish risk management frameworks for trade finance. Ensure robust governance structures and compliance with international regulations. Lead high-level discussions with regulators and policymakers to shape industry standards.


Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in banking and/or trade finance experience, with leadership responsibility in trade finance, structured trade, transaction banking, or a closely related business OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in banking and/or trade finance experience, with leadership responsibility in trade finance, structured trade, transaction banking, or a closely related business.

Preferred Experience:

15+ years of banking and/or trade finance experience, with leadership responsibility in trade finance, structured trade, transaction banking, or a closely related business.

If hired in NY, CA or MA, the base pay for this position is generally between $263,160.00 and $356,040.00. If hired in NC, the base pay for this position is generally between $219,300.00 and $296,700.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
