    Job Summary

    The Student Services Specialist position performs enrollment services functions, providing student support services for the college in the areas of admissions, records and registration, the Call Center, and the Coyote Welcome Desk. Working in a fast-paced, high-energy One Stop Enrollment Center, this position provides comprehensive admissions, records, registration, and payment-related services to new and continuing students with a high level of accuracy and exceptional customer service. Utilizes strong problem-solving and communication skills to assist students with a wide range of enrollment services questions. Embraces a service-first, solutions-focused, team-oriented environment, working with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds to help students achieve their academic goals. The person hired for this role will serve students, staff, faculty, and community members from a variety of backgrounds in all areas of enrollment services. The Student Services Specialist Senior coordinates office workflow and provides training to other staff members.

    Core Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Student Support: Provide accurate, high-quality guidance to students from a variety of backgrounds regarding admissions, registration, academic records, and payment processes.

  • Frontline Engagement: Serve as a primary point of contact across multiple service areas, including the One Stop Enrollment Center, Call Center, and Coyote Welcome Desk.

  • Problem Resolution: Utilize strong communication and critical-thinking skills to resolve complex student inquiries and support academic success.

  • Collaborative Environment: Champion a service-first, solutions-focused culture while collaborating effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members from a variety of backgrounds.

    Essential Functions

    50% - Supports the Office of Admissions, Records and Registration with the day-to-day functions related but not limited to; general admissions, registration, transcript evaluation, data entry (transcripts, processing/retention), graduation, front-line or multi-phone service, and international student admission. Student, faculty, and staff support; enrollment verifications and other student related documents.
    20% - Performs general office functions such as; answering phones, faxing, preparing correspondence, assisting at the Welcome Desk and other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.
    10% - Assists with Special Admissions population including high school partners.
    10% - Assists with coordination of projects for special enrollment populations.
    10% - Provides administrative support which may impact service to other areas of Student Affairs.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

    OR

    High school diploma/GED, and two (2) year of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

    Desired Qualifications

    A. One (1) year of experience working in an educational environment providing support services in higher education.

    B. One (1) year of experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds.

    C. One (1) year of customer service experience with a high degree of public contact, including in person, telephone, and e-mail.

    D. One (1) year of experience working in student services (i.e., advisement, counseling, admissions, procedures), including online Student Information Systems (e.g., PeopleSoft) and working with federal and state requirements (e.g., lawful presence/residency determination).

    E. One (1) year of experience working in a team environment.

    F. Spanish Speaker.

    G. One (1) year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two (2) years.

    Experience within other community college systems or higher education institutions is valued and may be considered in addition to MCCCD experience. External candidates are encouraged to apply.

    Special Working Conditions

  • May require working evenings and/or weekends.

  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.

  • May be required to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

  • May be required to work at multiple MCCCD sites or locations.

  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visa.
