We're looking for an experienced, driven
Senior
Accountant to own execution of our monthly close and serve as a trusted finance point of contact for store department leaders. This is a highly visible, load-bearing role: you'll take ownership of a full book of journal entries, reconciliations, and PBCs, working within a close structure where the Assistant Controller manages close and the Controller finalizes the financials and delivers them to the CFO for sign-off and issuance. You'll also provide day-to-day guidance to a Staff Accountant, so this role combines strong technical ownership with the start of people leadership. We want someone who takes pride in a clean, timely close, is comfortable being the department's first call, and actively looks for ways to automate and improve how the work gets done.
How You'll Make an Impact
Month-End Close Ownership
- Own close execution end-to-end: prepare and post journal entries (accruals, reclasses, recurring entries), complete reconciliations, and manage the PBC schedule
- Take ownership of an existing book of reconciliations, journal entries, and PBCs, stabilizing and standardizing this work overtime
- Self-review your work product before it moves to the Assistant Controller for close management and the Controller for final review, ahead of CFO sign-off and issuance

- Review Income Statement expense lines and provide variance explanations for financial summaries
- Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports, including allocations, rollforwards, and tie-outs
- Provide day-to-day guidance and review for a Staff Accountant, supporting their development and the quality of their work
Department Partnership
- Serve as the named finance point of contact for one or more store departments, giving department leaders a clear, consistent line into Finance
- Field and route department financial questions, connecting leaders to the right analysis or analyst when a request goes beyond your scope
External Audit Coordination
- Prepare PBCs for the external audit, working directly with the audit team to keep the request list moving on schedule
- Serve as a primary point of contact for auditor questions during fieldwork, researching and resolving items directly where possible
- Review audited financial statements for accuracy prior to finalization
Tax Compliance
- Prepare PBCs supporting Federal and State income tax return preparation
- Review completed Federal and State tax returns and tie out supporting schedules to the general ledger
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain and update ERP templates and standard reports, keeping them current as reporting needs change
- Support insurance reporting requirements and coordinate policy renewal processes
- Coordinate physical inventory logistics and scheduling with store and warehouse operations

- Self-starter who functions well with minimal supervision
