Pay Rate: $22.35 - $23.35 per hour | Temp to Hire Opportunity

Shift Options: 2nd Shift, 2 PM-10:30 PM | 3rd Shift, 10 PM-6:30 AM | Schedule: Monday-Friday | Weekend Overtime as needed

Non-CDL Yard Driver (Yard Hostler) Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum of one year of recent yard hostler experience (within the past three years)
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to meet Staffmark hiring and safety requirements



Non-CDL Yard Driver (Yard Hostler) Skills + Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of yard hostling experience within the past 3 years
  • Previous experience operating a yard goat, terminal tractor, or yard truck
  • Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces and congested yard environments
  • Experience performing frequent trailer switches between dock doors
  • Ability to complete approximately 80 or more trailer moves per shift
  • Strong backing skills, including blindside backing
  • Excellent situational awareness and attention to detail
  • Safety-first mindset with a commitment to following all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced distribution environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic
  • Willingness to work weekends as business needs require


Non-CDL Yard Driver (Yard Hostler) Job Duties

  • Operate a non-CDL yard goat (terminal tractor) to move trailers throughout the distribution yard.
  • Transport trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and designated yard locations.
  • Perform trailer switches quickly, safely, and efficiently.
  • Position trailers accurately for loading and unloading operations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
  • Verify trailer numbers and assigned dock locations.
  • Communicate with warehouse personnel and dispatch regarding trailer movements.
  • Maintain safe operating speeds and follow all yard traffic regulations.
  • Complete high-volume trailer movements while maintaining accuracy and safety.
  • Report equipment concerns or safety issues promptly.
  • Keep work areas organized and free of hazards.
  • Follow all company safety policies and operational procedures.



Non-CDL Yard Driver (Yard Hostler) Physical Capabilities

  • Sit and operate yard equipment for extended periods.
  • Frequently climb in and out of the yard goat cab.
  • Perform repeated twisting, reaching, and turning while backing trailers.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Maintain alertness and concentration throughout the shift.
  • Safely enter and exit equipment multiple times during the workday.
  • Perform visual inspections of trailers and equipment.
