  • Position will be based in Peoria, Illinois, as we continue to build up our cancer care services in the community and surrounding areas.
  • This role is primarily General Hematology/Oncology, with the option to incorporate subspecialty focus based on the candidate's experience.
  • Join a multidisciplinary team with Hematology/Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Gynecologic Oncologists, Breast Surgeons, Colorectal Surgeons, CT Surgeons, disease site specific nurse navigators, social work, nutrition counseling, and genetic services.
  • Practice in Weekly Disease Specific Tumor Boards (Upper GI, Lower GI, Breast, Thoracic, etc.) and strong support from Radiation Oncology and all Surgical Services.
  • We maintain CoC, NAPBC and NAPRC accreditations and a lung interdisciplinary team.
  • Available ancillary support services and oncology infrastructure including CT, MRI, PET/CT, Pathology and full radiation oncology service on site.
  • Opportunity for academic and/or research at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine in Urbana, IL which is a collaboration between Carle and the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Faculty rank commensurate with background and experience (Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor).
  • The Carle Illinois College of Medicine is the nation's first medical school focused at the intersection of healthcare and engineering.

  • Successful candidates should have at least three years of post-fellowship experience and leadership interest. Candidates with leadership experience invited to apply as we continue to build upon our nationally recognized cancer care teams throughout the Carle Health system. Prior leadership experience is not required.
  • EPIC electronic medical records, including Beacon module, are utilized.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Physician recruitment in hematology/oncology to support the program growth.
  • Strategic and collaborative partnership with physicians and advanced practice providers in other specialties at Carle, and our partnering independent practices in the Peoria area.
  • Identifying the opportunities for program growth and networking.
  • Lead the oncology program in the West Region and participate in marketing events for the program (local radio, TV, local magazine, etc.).
  • The position reports to Medical Director, Carle Cancer Institute

About the Carle Cancer Institute:

  • Strong clinical cancer research with a National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) Grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
  • Currently more than 100 open clinical trials for cancer patients in Central Illinois.
  • Carle Cancer Institute is home of Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute with an existing opportunity to support investigator-initiated studies.
  • Close collaboration with the University of Illinois Basic Science Cancer Center in Urbana, Illinois.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $650,000 - $700,000. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
