The Electroneurodiagnostic Tech operates neurology equipment under the supervision of a neurologist and obtains data for use by the physician diagnosing/treating neurological disorders. Responsibilities:
Performs NCV/EMG studies, assist physician with EMG, prepare for physician interpretation. Initiates patient education; provides patient designated others with a complete explanation of procedure(s), test(s), and/or treatments in order to promote compliance and cooperation. Informs physician of potential abnormalities noticed while performing study.
Verifies patient identity. Enters appropriate patient information as needed. Obtains and/or verifies consent for procedure if applicable. Ensures that documentation in patient chart is made in an accurate and timely manner Archives files for NCV/EMG as applicable. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Cleans equipment after each procedure. Follows universal precautions for infection control. Complies with hazardous material handling procedures. Maintains instrument/equipment in good working order. Takes appropriate precautions to ensure electrical safety. Maintains appropriate stock of supplies needed to complete NCV/EMG studies.
Assists with patient phone calls, scheduling appointments, and medical assistant duties as needed. Other information: Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Medical Assistant certification or registration
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred
Experience performing NCV/EMG studies
