Installer:

Installs products for decks, garage landings, stairs and exterior railing at homes or buildings by performing the following duties.

PURPOSE

The installer is responsible for the safe, accurate, and professional installation of exterior building products, including decks, garage landings, stairs and railing systems. This position ensures every installation is completed to company quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable building codes while delivering exceptional customer service

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Loads and unloads materials from truck onto work site.
  • Cuts product to specified size, as needed.
  • Installs parts in specified relationship to each other.
  • Verifies trueness of structure.
  • Stays knowledgeable of OSHA regulations, and applies safety requirements in daily work (e.g. wearing hard hats, steel toe work boots, fall prevention requirements, etc.)
  • Operate a company vehicle and trailer to transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites as assigned.
  • Constructs, erects, and repairs wooden structures for decks, garage landings, stairs and railing; reads blueprints or sketches or from verbal instructions.
  • Understands local building codes to ensure that structures comply with structural, safety and other regulatory requirements.
  • Operates hand tools and power tools to saw to size, nail, shim, fit and finish wooden construction.
  • Keeps work area neat and orderly; ensures that premises are cleaned and debris is appropriately disposed at the end of the work shift.
  • Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related production goals.
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.




  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two (2) years of carpentry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) in accordance with company policy.



COMPETENCIES



  • Ability to use hand and power tools required for carpentry tasks
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or design documents
  • Manual dexterity
  • Knowledge of safety procedures while performing carpentry tasks
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Knowledge of basic math, angles and use of measuring tools
  • Valid driver's license

  • The employee is required to use close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to bring objects into sharp focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to outdoor weather conditions, and occasionally required to work in high places and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work is performed within a construction environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, equipment noise and dust.
  • May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, crawling, stooping or kneeling.
