Production/Plant Manager - Food Manufacturing

About the Role

A well-established food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production/Plant Manager to oversee all activities associated with the manufacturing and production department at their facility in Stone Mountain, GA. This role is responsible for people and team development, motivating the team, and ensuring quality performance across daily operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily activities of the production and operations teams, including production scheduling
• Delegate production assignments to appropriate teams and personnel
• Implement and modify procedures to ensure production of quality products
• Estimate and review costs; monitor and document process controls
• Supervise and motivate teams of workers
• Promote safety in the work area by understanding and complying with safety procedures, and report all accidents in a timely manner
• Direct employees with respect and courtesy
• Notify maintenance of equipment problems and breakdowns
• Review QA and production records
• Review quarterly food safety audits, and develop and implement corrective action
• Meet regularly with direct reports to set goals and monitor progress
• Manage all aspects of regulatory compliance, including knowledge of standards, documentation, and audits

Qualifications/Requirements

• 5+ years of plant management experience
• Previous experience in food production/manufacturing required
• Experience with portion control packaging equipment required
• Extensive experience with production and processing equipment
• Ability to lead and manage a diverse employee base
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires talking or hearing, both in person and by telephone; repetitive use of hands to operate standard office equipment; reaching with hands and arms; and lifting up to 25 pounds. This position frequents the production floor, so operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions is required. Work is completed in a facility where nuts, fruits, and other allergens are present.
