Your HR Adventure awaits. Come help shape the future growth of Johnson Outdoors by playing a key role within the Human Resources department. Located at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the shores of beautiful Lake Eufaula, Alabama, the Human Resources Manager plans, and implements human resources (HR) programs and practices which include managing daily HR activities, employment, employee relations, learning and development, organizational design, employee engagement and recognition, safety/health, performance management, and total rewards. Acts as a business partner supporting a team of managers and partners closely with other human resources at other locations or shared services to create, implement and manage company-wide initiatives and processes.

What you will be doing:



  • Direct and oversee all areas of human resources as well as the day-to-day requirements of the function for assigned locations.
  • Provide general human resources management support in the areas of employee relations, learning and development, employment, management, organizational design, employee engagement, safety/health, performance management, recognition, company events and HR policies and procedures.
  • Act as a mentor, coach, thought leader and functional expert with business partners.
  • Provide input, administer and partner on compensation/benefits programs.
  • Align human resources strategies with the organization's business strategy, bring an HR perspective to business planning, bring business perspectives to human resources strategy and implement plans accordingly.
  • Manage our world class employment function through creative and effective recruitment, selection, testing, onboarding and related programs.
  • Maintain positive employee relations that promote satisfaction, retention and high employee engagement.


What you need to succeed:



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or equivalent.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of human resources experience including leading other human resources staff, projects and functions.
  • Hands-on manager with unique skills, drive and a high degree of integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with highly diverse personalities across the entire organization and styles to maximize the positive outcome of such interactions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing the full recruitment cycle, from sourcing and screening to offer negotiation and onboarding coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources functions including employee relations, benefits, recruitment, talent management and organizational design.
  • Experience in successfully managing projects from concept development to implementation and evaluation. Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities to effectively provide direction.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to communicate with all levels of employees and leader as well as external organizations.
  • Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems with a group or individual in a timely manner and proactively develop alternative solutions.
  • Creative, out of the box thinker.
  • Demonstrated expertise on all regulatory environment and compliance requirements, including items such as ERISA, EEOC, FMLA, etc.
  • Experience or proven competencies to function effectively in a matrix organization with global locations.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, along with a strong attention to detail.
