Overview

The Senior Cost Controller oversees and optimizes workforce to ensure on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and high service levels for Budget set up, Cost Control, Cost reporting and Change Management.

Lead Project Control team on an assigned Project, coordinate with operations and stakeholders, and implement systems and processes to balance demand and capacity.

The Senior Cost Controller is intended to perform the activities assigned in autonomy but in continuous coordination with the Project Team.

The Senior Cost Controller might need to coordinate a team of PCA and Jr. PCA in performing the activities, depending on the size and complexity of the project.


Responsibilities

The Senior Cost Controller will coordinate the Project Team in the activities of Budget Management, Cost Control, Forecasting and Change Management, as well as other cost control related activities on one or more design & construction projects. The Senior Cost Controller will:

  • Drive the development and maintenance of Project Budget, since the inception of the Project throughout the end, including all changes due to Contract Change Orders or Scope related Budget Transfer
    Prepare, maintain, update daily/weekly/monthly & review of Cost Control System.
    Prepare, maintain, update & review of Progress Measurement, Monitoring and Reporting System
  • Drive the daily/weekly/monthly update of the ETC and EAC and all time and cost control related tools (Procurement Plan, Staffing Plan, GR Plan), utilizing information provided by the Project Team
  • Drive the development, update and timely maintenance of the Cost Control System utilizing information provided by the Project Team
  • Analyze, evaluate the forecast, and its comparison with the Current Budget; analyze and report variances
  • Analyze, evaluate the performance from Subcontractors in case of Time and Materials Cost Plus Agreement and self-performing resources (if applicable)
  • Analyze and approval/revise/reject of the Subcontractors payapps and Suppliers' invoices
  • Analyze, evaluate and assess any design related or field related change order request from Subcontractors
  • Analyze, evaluate and assess, any design related or field related change order request to the Client
  • Report Forecast vs Budget status to all levels of the project team and company management and to the client
  • Coordinate the Owner Billing timely preparation and issuance
  • Attend OAC review meetings at project locations (available to travel within the USA).
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

About You:
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • No professional license is required, but a certification from PMI or AACE is a plus
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Hands-On experience in using Project Management System (i.e. Procore, Unifier)
  • Knowledge of Accounting Systems (Oracle Fusion, Vista, SAP)
  • knowledge of Scheduling Software (Primavera P6 EPPM or Oracle Primavera Cloud; ASSTA, Microsoft Project) is plus
  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Risk Analysis techniques
  • Ability to travel and/or relocate within the United States
  • Experience in large industrial construction projects preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Time management skills with the ability to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Proactive and organized approach to tasks.
  • Professional attitude with a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information
  • Standard working hours with potential peak workload during month-end reporting.
  • Ability to analyze contractors schedule(s) during both the development phase (baselines) and during active construction to determine need of supervision, equipment, site facilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Change Management
  • Experience in Scheduling is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Job site based with frequent visit to the Construction Field; might be Office based for short time periods
  • When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
