Position Summary
The Performance Cook for Georgia Football will assist the Head Performance Chef & the Performance Sous Chef, and other Performance Chefs in executing the culinary nutrition program for the Georgia football team. The individual will be responsible for preparing complex foods for football student-athletes based on established menus. Using a variety of cooking skills and methods, should have the ability to customize meals based on fueling needs, body composition goals, food allergies, and athletes' preferences. Performance Cook will be responsible for receiving goods, menu execution, and ensuring culinary & sanitizing inventory. The employee will need to be knowledgeable in culinary terms, knife skills, and basic cooking techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, policies, and services.
  • Knowledge of nutritional principles as they relate to sport and athletic performance.
  • Knowledge of Health and Food Safety Codes for food preparation, storage, and serving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with athletes, staff, and coaches.

Physical Demands

  • Lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
  • Working in outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
  • Move around campus, which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Driving as needed to complete job related tasks.

Meal Preparation:

  • Serve as a performance cook in the football meal facility which includes pre and post fueling for practice, lift, and games.
  • Using a variety of cooking methods and kitchen skills, prepare meals that address football student-athlete body composition, dietary needs, and fueling requirements.
  • Ensure food safety for all menus including but not limited to food allergies, expiration dates, temperature control, etc.

  • Ensures proper culinary standards and techniques are in place for the preparation of food items, including production, presentation, and service standards.
  • Ensure proper storage of food & cleaning products.
  • Responsible for the thorough cleaning and upkeep of all cookware, dishes, utensils, cooking equipment, kitchen and dining area including all countertops and equipment.
