• $56.65 - $82.14 Hourly
• $117,828.05 - $170,850.78 Annually

SCHEDULE:

• Monday - Friday, 8: 00 a.m. - 5: 00 p.m.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:

As the Director of Library Services, you'll provide strategic leadership and day-to-day direction for the Library by aligning services, staff, and resources with the goals of the Library Board of Trustees, City Council, and community. You'll guide and support employees across service areas, ensure sound fiscal and operational management, and promote responsive, high-quality library services. Through collaboration, long-range planning, community engagement, and thoughtful stewardship of public resources, you'll help shape the Library's vision while ensuring it remains accessible, innovative, and accountable to the residents it serves.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Provide overall leadership, direction, and strategic vision for the Library in alignment with the Library Board of Trustees and City priorities.
• Manage day-to-day library operations through subordinate coordinators and managers across all service areas.
• Develop, implement, review, and enforce policies of the Library Board of Trustees, the Library, the City, and applicable labor agreements.
• Direct, evaluate, and manage library staff, including hiring, discipline, performance management, staff development, and succession.
• Prepare, administer, and monitor the Library's annual budgets, including operating, trust, and foundation funds.
• Lead long-range planning efforts and ensure annual goals and objectives are established, achieved, and reported using best practices.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and professional standards.
• Serve as advisor to the Library Board of Trustees by providing analysis, recommendations, statistics, and reports on library operations.
• Represent the Library within the community and serve as an advocate and liaison to media, partner organizations, and regional library groups.
• Identify, plan for, and oversee facility and equipment needs.
• Lead efforts to maintain outstanding and responsive customer service and patron satisfaction across all areas of library operations
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Comprehensive knowledge of professional library practices, services, policies, and trends across all library service areas.
• Strong leadership and management skills, including staff supervision, labor relations, and organizational development.
• Advanced ability to plan, administer, and oversee complex budgets, financial reports, and contract administration.
• Skill in strategic planning, systems analysis, and applying best practices to improve library operations and services.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for working with boards, elected officials, staff, and community groups.
• Ability to analyze complex issues, interpret data, and make sound, independent decisions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with community partners, media, and professional organizations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold high ethical and professional standards.

Education and Experience

• Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an accredited college or university preferred, with five (5) years of experience as a librarian and administrator across varied library service areas; or
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with ten (10) years of experience in a library and in an administrative role across varied service areas.
• Experience with computer technology applications, financial management, and administrative practices is desirable.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Licenses and Certifications
