Please see salary range here: meaningful link text Application Window Open date: July 23, 2026 Next review date: Monday, Aug 24, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Aug 28, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Pending availability of funding, the University of California, Irvine School of Education seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar to join the Digital Learning Lab and support its work on generative AI in postsecondary writing instruction. The scholar will assist with research, training, and national leadership activities focused on ethical and effective uses of generative AI in the teaching and learning of college writing The scholar will contribute to a national study of generative AI in postsecondary writing and to the development and pilot testing of the PapyrusAI writing platform and instructional resources with community college partners. Responsibilities include planning and carrying out professional development; data collection and management; qualitative, statistical, and natural language processing analyses of survey, interview, observation, writing, assessment, and platform/log data; preparation of research protocols; and coauthored reports, presentations, and publications. Approximately 25 percent effort will support project coordination, including tracking milestones, organizing meetings and materials, and facilitating partner collaboration. The position will begin September 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, contingent on the successful candidate's availability and the availability of funding. Salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with University of California policy and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. by the start date in education or a related field relevant to writing, learning, technology, psychology, computing, or quantitative methods. Applicants should have research experience relevant to generative AI, the teaching and learning of writing, digital learning, or educational technology; strong qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods skills; and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-institutional project. Preferred qualifications include experience with one or more of the following: experimental research, multilevel modeling, R or Python, platform data or natural language processing, human-centered technology development, educational partnerships, and scholarly publication. Experience coordinating externally funded research and interest in open science are highly valued. Application Requirements Document requirements
