About This Role

This position will lead the design, development, documentation, training, end user support and related processes for data products including complex reports, dashboards, and visualizations. The position will oversee unit processes and procedures to ensure the accurate and timely completion of tasks in support of strategic goals. This position will review draft work of team members and provide input on direction of the unit's BI and ad hoc data reporting efforts. The position will manage the unit's BI cloud environment. The position will enhance the use of university data through BI tools and further the data driven decision making capabilities for campus units.

Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible. This position is Hybrid eligible; however, the first 90 days are required to be 100% on-site. After that period, hybrid eligibility may be granted based on individual performance, with a requirement of three days on-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and seven years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in data analytics, computer information systems, or related fields.
  • Two or more years developing data visualizations and reports using business intelligence and analytic platforms to include some combination of the following:

    • Ability to interpret report requirements.
    • Exceptional customer relationship and attention to detail.
    • Ability to logically and analytically review data and determine if visualizations align to data sources.
    • Excellent logical, analytical and strong problem-solving capacity.
    • Able to find root causes of problems and quickly determines efficient solutions.


  • Demonstrated ability to include the following:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Can anticipate risks and mitigate in the moment.
    • Comfortable under high-stress and exhibits poise and focus.
    • Ability to connect with individuals across a broad campus community, including students, staff, and faculty.


  • Ability to read data models and flow diagrams.
  • Previous work experience with Power BI or Tableau.
  • Previous experience working in cloud-based data structures.
  • Previous work experience in a higher education environment.
