The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Application Analyst II-Surgical.

The Application Analyst II-Surgicalsupports the implementation of UHS surgical applications. Monitors the resolution of maintenance or enhancement issues assigned by the UHS Customer Support Center. Implements modifications to existing applications that will effectively accomplish desired objectives. Provides technical support to UHS entities as needed. Meets deadlines and ensures continued progress toward assignment completion. Shares experience with other members of team.

Key Responsibilities include:

System Implementation:

  • Regularly meets with users, vendors, and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications.
  • Supports the implementations of applications and prepares the appropriate documentation.
  • Performs system testing and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle.
  • Performs Q/A on application functionality.
  • Researches and resolves implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets.
  • Adheres to appropriate UHS Project Management standards.
  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management.
  • Assists with the training of users in operating procedures for application.
  • Coordinates project team member activities to achieve common objectives.
  • Working in conjunction with a project manager, monitors project plans. Tracks project status, issues and progress.

System Maintenance/Support:

  • Demonstrates understanding of perioperative workflow
  • Demonstrates analytical problem solving
  • Assists in performing routine system maintenance and builds, including major application upgrades.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with application teams and user community.
  • Has ability to share knowledge with and mentor Application Analyst I
  • Attends, participates in and contributes to meetings throughout Surgical IS teams.
  • Analyzes business/Surgical needs and requirements.
  • Oversees/performs analysis of application modifications for Cerner and/or other vendors in the perioperative space and coordinates modifications.
  • Interprets end user requirements by fully discussing potential options and sharing information with leadership to move towards optimal solution.
  • Creates system specifications from user requirements.
  • Adheres to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies.
  • Researches and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets.
  • Provides on-call support as scheduled.

Administration and Oversight:

  • Maintains Service Excellence principles.
  • Prepares and submits status reports to supervisor as required.
  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, problems.
  • Updates system, operational and department documentation.
  • Can discuss areas for process improvements.
  • Presents oral and written communications to project teams and other departments.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher level staff.
  • Performs other tasks as required by management.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Three or more years of Information Systems experience.
  • Experience on a surgical team as a primary scrub (or other scrub roles).

  • In depth knowledge of OR procedures and workflow.

  • Knowledge of prepping patients, positioning, assisting surgeon, sterile processing of instruments, turnover of cases.

  • Have completed accredited surgical technologist program.

  • Knowledge of system application implementation, enhancement and support methods and practices.

  • Working knowledge of computer systems analysis and programming techniques and procedures, including: consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, coding, debugging, or modification of computer systems or programs based on and related to user design specifications.

  • Knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics.

  • Knowledge of project management methods.

  • General familiarity of user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications.

  • Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal fluency.

License or Registration Requirements: Acute Care Facility (Hospital) experience preferred. Surgical, Clinical, and Application Knowledge preferred.

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel
