What to Expect
Tesla's Cathode Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group is looking for a highly motivated engineer to work on a critical challenge facing the world's energy transition - Battery Cathode Materials. This includes design and construction of manufacturing facilities and skid systems to house first-of-a-kind cathode manufacturing processes. As part of the team, you will lead the design and implementation of steel skidded structures and develop installation and anchoring plans for static and dynamic equipment. You will lead the project from concept through final design, installation, and handover to the operations team, support projects/maintenance team develop and review rigging plans and modifications to existing installed skids. Within a demanding and fast-paced environment, you will work closely with various stakeholders to ramp up large-scale production lines.
What You'll Do

What You'll Bring
- Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of greater scope and complexity
- Conduct structural analysis and design of steel structures, along with the creation of justifying structural calculations
- Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw conclusions based on engineering judgement
- Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work from multiple disciplines/firms
- Review and approve structural models, calculations reports, and drawings submitted by external contractors
- Ensure steel structures weight is optimized
- Prepare a variety of engineering deliverables for multiple or large projects, including creating drawings and scope of work documents for fabrication/installation of Skids
