UCSF School of Medicine and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals

Division of Medical Genetics, Department of Pediatrics

Adjunct, Clinical X, HS Clinical, In Residence Faculty Series

The Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals is seeking clinical geneticists to join our team. Appointments may be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank in the Adjunct, Clinical X, Health Sciences (HS) Clinical, or In Residence faculty series. Academic rank and faculty series will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates will join a leading academic medical center and an established training program. The position may include clinical responsibilities in both pediatric and adult genetics across the San Francisco and Oakland campuses and offers the opportunity to contribute to the Department's missions of excellence in patient care, education, research, and service.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
  • Eligible for or in possession of a California medical license by the time of hire
  • Board certified or board eligible in Clinical Genetics and Genomics (MD) by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) or an equivalent certifying body


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or an equivalent certifying body
  • At least two years of experience or formal training in clinical genetics
  • Experience caring for pediatric and adult patients with genetic conditions
  • Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and team-based care
  • Interest in medical education, including teaching and mentoring learners
  • Interest in research, quality improvement, or other scholarly activities


For positions that are 51% effort or more:

The total compensation for this position ranges from $204,734-$320,000.

Total compensation at the University of California, San Francisco includes your base salary, which is determined by your rank and step at appointment, and negotiated pay for Health Sciences Compensation Plan members. Faculty who are members of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan may also be eligible for additional incentive pay.

For positions that are 50% effort or less:

See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $81,500-$246,000.
