Location: Raccoon Service Center, Pittsburgh, PA



Job Responsibilities:



  • Upholds all safety and compliance standards for crews managed, this includes ensuring job briefings, DVIR, NESC, OSHA standards, etc.
  • Directs the construction and maintenance activities of field personnel to ensure maximum productivity, promote and enforce safety & achieve expected levels of performance. This is done utilizing SQDCP focused approach (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People)
  • Works closely with crew leaders, engineering, project management and work planning to ensure all jobs are properly planned and hazard assessed prior to the start of work.
  • Directs the scheduling & assignment of daily work to the Senior line workers and other crew members to ensure timely completion of the work assignments.
  • Complete As Built for all jobs with a print or trouble work that has changed pole size, XMFR size, phase, new equipment, or circuit configuration.
  • Hold crews accountable for updating customer Estimated Time of Restoration (ETR) and other Grid required system data
  • Directs the proper & safe utilization of tools and mechanized equipment to ensure employee & public safety while achieving maximum productivity. Routinely completes spot checks on trucks for expired HTT and PPE items. Routinely performs crew visits to ensure employees are working within their classification and following safety rules.
  • Interface with contractors, other utilities, customers, government bodies and all Duquesne Light Company departments to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure direct reports are up to date on all training.Provide timely field data to ensure accurate accounting of plant records. Directs timely ordering of materials and supplies to ensure maximum use of all resources. Including materials are tracked and charged to work orders.
  • Conducts training, development and counseling of personnel in the T&D Department to ensure the continuing development of individual skills for maximum job performance and to prepare the individuals for greater responsibilities.
  • Review timesheets and ensure all time is accurately recorded in MyTime.



Supervisory:

Typically the front line supervisor to union staff or support track staff. May manage a small group both staff and professional employees in a narrow focus area typically no more than 4 direct reports and typically used as first entry into leadership for employees without prior leadership experience.



Education/Experience Requirements:

Must be able to successfully complete the Utility Technical Training - OH Supervisor Lesson Plan in the first 6 months in role.

Requires a bachelors degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial), Business Management or relate field with prior construction experience strongly preferred.

In lieu of a college degree 5+ years of OH/UG line work experience obtaining a journey level is required.



Skills:

Must be able to make clear, concise decisions under stressful conditions.

Must have courage to uphold standards and hold team accountable for performance

Excellent conflict resolution skills

Prior experience working in an unionized environment, administrating CBA, and partnering with Labor Relations personnel is strongly preferred.

Extensive driving experience (including off-road) during normal and emergency conditions.



Physical & Time Requirements:

Must be able to work in all types of weather extremes.

Must posses a valid driver's license.

The T&D Supervisor is required to be the "Duty Supervisor" on a rotating basis

Must be able to work extended days (16 hours days during storms and in emergency situations).



Scope:

Primary focus is on day-to-day management of operational execution for areas managed. Trains and develops staff. Plans the workflow. Directs available resources to accomplish process improvement. Leads workflow changes and implementations for direct team.



Decision Impact:

Problems and issues are undefined require detailed info gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand/resolve. Makes decisions that address workflow issues considering immediate impact on own function or work unit.



Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company.Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.



Data Governance

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
