The medical assistant role at the Maine Health-Preble Street Learning Collaborative is a unique opportunity for the MA who has a passion for working with the underserved community. The main clinical duties of the MA are rooming patients, assisting providers with clinical care, and oversight of the medical shower and respite beds at the MH-PSLC. We are searching for a candidate who has experience or is passionate about serving vulnerable populations. We are seeking a compassionate MA with strong communication skills and a passion for serving underserved populations. Experience with trauma informed care, mental health, substance use disorders, homelessness services, or other healthcare settings is preferred. The hours of this position are Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM. No nights or weekends or Mainehealth observed holidays. Department and Program Summary: The MaineHealth Preble Street Learning Collaborative (MH PSLC) is a low-barrier clinic that addresses the needs and care of people experiencing homelessness through education, outreach, and walk-in medical services, case management, and other community resources. We also launched the CONNECT Outreach Van, a grant-funded mobile outreach program that delivers trauma-informed treatment for psychiatric and substance use disorders to people with unstable housing in Greater Portland. The Learning Collaborative offers the opportunity to join a close and supportive interprofessional team that provides medical care, social work, and basic support for patients with unstable housing.
