Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer to join an Agile development team supporting a mission-critical enterprise data processing application. This position offers the opportunity to enhance a Spring Boot application that processes large volumes of operational data while evolving the platform through containerization, Kubernetes deployment, and modern software engineering practices. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team responsible for developing and maintaining a Spring Boot application with a MariaDB backend that processes terabytes of enterprise data each week. The team delivers software while preparing the application for containerized deployment on Kubernetes. The ideal candidate is passionate about modern software engineering and enjoys building scalable Java applications that process large volumes of data while leveraging Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, relational databases, and container technologies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence technical design decisions and contribute to the continued modernization of a mission-critical system.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze user and system requirements to design, develop, and modernize Java-based enterprise software solutions.
  • Develop, test, debug, and maintain Java, Angular, and RESTful applications using modern software engineering best practices.
  • Design and optimize MariaDB and other relational database components to support high-volume enterprise data processing.
  • Support application modernization through containerization, Kubernetes deployments, and evolving software architecture.
  • Participate in technical design, architecture reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing and GitLab CI/CD pipelines to support reliable build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Create technical documentation using Confluence, track work in Jira, and provide cross-functional support across application, database, and deployment technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing Java enterprise applications using Spring Boot or similar modern frameworks.
  • Experience developing Angular or similar modern web applications and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience developing applications with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or other relational databases.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker/Podman) and Kubernetes-based deployments.
  • Experience with application modernization, software architecture, and microservices.
  • Experience implementing GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence, creating technical documentation, and supporting enterprise database operations
