Senior Database Administrator (Oracle EBS & Multi-Platform)
Role Overview
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will serve as the primary technical expert responsible for the stability, optimization, and security of our core Oracle Database infrastructure and our Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) 11i legacy environment. Because this enterprise environment operates under strict change-freeze and non-patching constraints, you will focus heavily on compensating security controls, network isolation, and proactive mitigation to protect vulnerable systems without altering core database code. While Oracle EBS and Oracle Database administration are the primary requirements for this role, additional experience managing MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server is a highly valued asset.
Core Responsibilities
Primary Focus: Oracle EBS 11i & Oracle Database Administration
Legacy Environments & Compensating Security: Enforce strict security postures for non-patchable systems (e.g., Oracle EBS 11i) through virtual patching, database firewalls, and host-level security configurations.
Network Isolation: Architect and maintain tight network segregation, ensuring Oracle database access is strictly restricted to authorized application servers and admin jump boxes.
Advanced Monitoring & Auditing: Implement and oversee deep database auditing (monitoring SYS, SYSTEM, and APPS accounts) to detect and alert on anomalous activity or exploit attempts in real time.
EBS 11i Maintenance: Troubleshoot, clone, and support the database backend for Oracle EBS 11i environments while ensuring absolute stability and zero disruption to legacy custom code.
Performance & Query Tuning: Monitor system health, code complex SQL/PL-SQL queries, and optimize index structures and query plans to maximize speed without relying on version upgrades.
High Availability & Recovery: Maintain, document, and test rigorous backup strategies (e.g., Oracle RMAN) and disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure rapid recovery options.
Plus Requirement: Multi-Platform Operations
Cross-Platform Support: Provide secondary administrative support, general maintenance, and basic troubleshooting for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server environments as required.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
Risk Advisory: Serve as the subject matter expert to management on the security risks of legacy infrastructure, presenting technical recommendations for future modernization or safe migration paths.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with developers, DevOps, and functional analysts to support infrastructure changes within a highly controlled environment.
Job Requirements
Eligibility Requirement
Education & Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Database Administrator working in enterprise environments.
Technical Skills & Expertise (Required)
Oracle EBS Expertise: Deep administrative experience with Oracle EBS 11i (architecture, concurrent managers, cloning) and older Oracle database versions.
Database Security Hardening: Proven experience securing databases using alternative methods when patching is not permitted (e.g., Database Firewalls, native auditing, network ACLs).
Optimization & Scripting: Expert-level knowledge of advanced SQL, PL/SQL tuning, and Shell/Python scripting for automation.
Technical Skills & Expertise (Highly Valued Pluses)
General hands-on experience or familiarity with secondary database platforms:
MySQL
PostgreSQL
MS SQL Server
Soft Skills & Professional Attributes
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and legacy-system debugging skills under tight constraints.
Excellent communication skills to articulate security risks and technical constraints clearly to both technical teams and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience planning migration paths from legacy systems (like EBS 11i) to modern cloud or hybrid infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Certifications in Database Security or platform-specific credentials (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
