Summary

The Project Manager, Strategic Initiatives is responsible for leading cross-functional projects that support the growth, operational excellence, and strategic objectives of the assigned account. This role partners with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and implement strategic initiatives that improve operational performance, customer service, business scalability, and financial performance. The Project Manager oversees projects from initiation through implementation, ensuring alignment among stakeholders, managing timelines, mitigating risks, and delivering successful outcomes. This position requires strong collaboration, project leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills, along with the ability to influence across multiple business units while supporting DSV's commitment to operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities



  • Lead cross-functional strategic projects supporting the assigned account and other business initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, resource requirements, and implementation strategies.
  • Coordinate project activities across Operations, Brokerage, Equipment, Information Technology, Finance, Customer Success, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate project meetings, document action items, monitor progress, and communicate project status, risks, and milestones to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively resolve issues to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support the implementation of new customer initiatives, operational enhancements, business process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, executive summaries, dashboards, reporting, and project status updates.
  • Analyze operational processes and recommend scalable solutions that improve efficiency, service quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Assist with reporting, data analysis, KPI development, and performance measurement to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, carriers, and external business partners to ensure project success.
  • Support organizational change management efforts and facilitate the successful transition of completed projects into day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor project deliverables, budgets, timelines, and performance to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Travel as needed to support project implementation, customer meetings, operational reviews, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Perform other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.



Qualifications & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Project Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of project management experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, operations, or a related industry.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects involving multiple business functions and stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience supporting customer-focused operational initiatives and business process improvements preferred.
  • Knowledge of transportation, brokerage, and supply chain operations preferred.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) or related operational platforms preferred.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), CAPM, or similar project management certification preferred.



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong knowledge of carrier compliance, auditing, and documentation requirements.
  • Understanding of Healthcare, TSA, DOT, cargo security, and transportation compliance standards.
  • Ability to provide functional guidance and support to team members.
  • Strong analytical, risk-assessment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate audit findings and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.



Physical Demands

The position primarily involves sedentary work in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, speaking on the phone, and participating in virtual meetings. Frequent use of hands and fingers is necessary to operate a keyboard, mouse, phone, and other standard office equipment. The role requires regular verbal and written communication and the ability to exchange accurate information with carriers, team members, and internal stakeholders. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and bending may be required to retrieve files or collaborate with team members. The employee may occasionally lift or move office materials weighing up to approximately 15 pounds, such as files, documents, or a laptop. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to focus on computer screens for extended periods.

Work Environment

This role is performed primarily in a professional office environment within a fast-paced freight brokerage and transportation operation. The employee will work mainly indoors with moderate noise levels from normal business activity and will communicate frequently by phone, email, and virtual platforms with carriers, operational teams, leadership, and other stakeholders. The role may also require visits to carrier locations, terminals, warehouses, or shipping docks to support audits, training, and compliance activities. In these environments, the employee must follow all safety requirements and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when applicable. Flexibility in work hours may be required based on operational, audit, or training needs.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
