THE POSITION

Begin a rewarding career as a Park Maintenance Worker with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This position allows you to help care for the natural beauty and public spaces at Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the upkeep of buildings, facilities, and outdoor areas throughout the park complex. It involves hands-on work in maintenance, repairs, and visitor assistance across park grounds. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Maintenance Tasks: Make repairs to buildings and facilities using carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tools
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and clean vehicles and equipment used throughout the park
  • Grounds Care: Mow grass, cut brush, pick up litter, prepare sites, and maintain trees and shrubs
  • Construction Support: Build simple forms, mix and place cement, and lay stone or block walls
  • Facility Upkeep: Clean restrooms and buildings and complete routine housekeeping tasks
  • Visitor Assistance: Provide information to park visitors in a friendly and helpful manner

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
  • Work schedule will vary due to the seasonal nature of the position.
  • Travel and overtime may be required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
