Description:


Mativ's Paper Divisionis seekingan experiencedSenior ProcessEngineerto join its dynamic team at the Whiting Mill.The incumbent will work to support key initiatives and help drive and achieve short and long-term goals. This position will be expected tounderstandproduction flow(from raw materials to finished product), prioritize process improvement needs, work with the team to findsolutions,and take responsibility for implementing them.



The incumbent will provideproactivetechnical support and guidance to manufacturing production crews to meet production and quality goals while emphasizing safe working practices and collaborating with maintenance tooptimizeequipment. The ideal candidate has thedrive,attitude, and excellent skills to support Mativ's collaborative, high-achievement culture.




Responsibilities:





  • Provide technicalexpertisetomodifyexisting millprocessand/or add new processes that will improve quality and increase profitability.






  • Provide technical knowledge to improveprocess control,quality of existingproductsand/or new product development.






  • Complete cost optimization projects that provide significant savings through product substitution, reduced variability, improved quality, and higher operatingefficiencies.






  • Carry out process improvement/optimization work including planning and supervising in-mill production trials.Determineareas requiring process improvements and coordinate efforts for achievement.






  • Writetechnical reports that clearly document trials, process improvement results, and capture cause and effect relationships.






  • Provide assistance toproduction in evaluating operation of major equipment andassistin design of modifications and changesrequired; aid operating personnel to better understand their processes.






  • Utilize process information systems to analyze production trends;assistin troubleshooting andidentifypossible improvements.






  • Support development and execution of capital projects.






  • Identifyand develop non-capital process improvement projects to help the overall efficiency of the entire system in all aspects of production.






  • Maintain effective communications and working relationships with production supervision and operating personnel as well as product development, suppliers, asset development, maintenance, IT, environmental, sales and marketing, research, engineering, andpurchasing.






  • Develop proficiency in the use of mill information systems including ABB and Oracle.






  • Perform other responsibilities related tothepositionasrequired.





Qualifications:


Required





  • Bachelor's degree inpulp and paper science,chemicalorindustrialengineering,orrelatedfield.






  • Three tofiveyearsofexperiencedemonstratedprocess troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilitiesin a paper-making environment.

Preferred




  • Desired software experience:ABB, Oracle,PARCview






  • Preferred Certifications:Third partycertification in Lean or Six Sigma






  • Experience implementing visual management.
