Overview

Mercy Clinic Women's Health is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Patient Services Representative to join our team at our Ladue Road OB/GYN practice. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming experience while supporting the daily operations of a busy women's health clinic.

The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys helping patients navigate their healthcare journey, and demonstrates exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

What You'll Do

As a Patient Services Representative, you will:

  • Welcome patients and verify demographic and insurance information in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Manage patient check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and registration activities.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with inquiries and appointment needs.
  • Create and maintain accurate patient records in Epic and other electronic systems.
  • Process scanning, faxing, mail distribution, and general clerical duties.
  • Review schedules and coordinate with providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Notify patients of delays and help maintain a positive patient experience.
  • Schedule procedures, diagnostic testing, and specialty appointments as needed.
  • Provide surgical and procedural estimates and Good Faith Estimates in accordance with the No Surprises Act.
  • Resolve patient concerns and complaints with professionalism and empathy.
  • Manage work queues and assist with accounts receivable activities.
  • Balance and reconcile daily cash drawer transactions.
  • Establish payment plans and assist patients with financial questions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect patient health information in compliance with HIPAA and Mercy policies.
  • Serve as a resource and change champion for new initiatives and Epic updates.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming reception area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to promote exceptional patient care.
Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Patient Services Representative and Advanced Patient Services Representative competencies.
  • Previous healthcare, medical office, OB/GYN, women's health, or physician practice experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, billing, and registration processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and patient relations abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy clinical environment.
  • Adaptability and professionalism under pressure.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, squat, and perform routine office functions.
