Job Summary

The Construction Manager - Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all phases of Electrical and Instrumentation construction activities from engineering and design through construction, commissioning, and startup. This role serves as the primary field resource, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within quality standards, and in accordance with engineering specifications. The Construction Manager provides technical leadership, coordinates contractors and project stakeholders, and supports successful project execution in an industrial or process manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Lead Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in site walkthroughs to define project scope during the engineering and FEED phases.
  • Review and redline P&IDs as required.
  • Develop instrumentation project lists, including transmitter and critical valve inventories.
  • Review instrumentation scopes of work with OEM vendors.
  • Participate in engineering and design meetings, providing constructability and execution planning input.
  • Review electrical, instrumentation, networking, panel, and cabinet drawings and provide technical feedback.
  • Support the development of project execution plans, construction schedules, and work plans.
  • Participate in site walkthroughs with engineering teams and equipment vendors.
  • Represent the project team during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for panels, cabinets, and related equipment.
  • Lead walkthroughs of Issued for Construction (IFC) packages with construction contractors.
  • Coordinate the receipt, inspection, and verification of instrumentation and control equipment delivered to the site.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and site requirements.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily construction activities and contractor performance.
  • Provide technical guidance to field crews using approved construction drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate field changes, drawing redlines, and engineering support throughout construction.
  • Resolve technical issues and coordinate with engineering teams as needed.
  • Review and approve contractor timesheets.
  • Attend daily project meetings and provide updates on construction progress, schedules, accomplishments, and upcoming activities.
  • Provide technical leadership during E&I construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Perform additional project and construction management duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Experience managing Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) construction projects in industrial or process manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of P&IDs, instrumentation, control systems, electrical systems, and construction drawings.
  • Experience coordinating construction contractors, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Experience participating in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with OEM equipment.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and project execution.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
