Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join their team in Salina, KS. This is a non-float position offering the opportunity to transition to a permanent role based on performance. The ideal candidate will have experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment while maintaining exceptional patient care and specimen integrity.

Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures.
- Verify patient information and accurately match specimens with laboratory requisitions.
- Explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling, storage, and transportation.
- Update patient information and document specimen collection accurately.
- Perform equipment maintenance and decontamination as required.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations.
- Answer phone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries.
- Participate in required departmental training and maintain quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a hospital or high-volume laboratory setting.
- Overall 2-4 years of healthcare/phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Proficiency in venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Experience processing and handling laboratory specimens.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Valid Phlebotomy Certification if required by state regulations.
