Bank Five Nine is seeking a Human Resources Specialist who wants broad, hands-on HR experience and room to grow. You'll support recruiting and onboarding, HR administration, payroll backup, employee events, and day-to-day employee and manager needs while gaining exposure across the employee lifecycle. This is a great opportunity for an early-career HR professional to build practical experience across multiple areas of HR.

This position is based at Bank Five Nine's Oconomowoc corporate office and works fully in person, five days per week. Occasional travel to Bank branches or employee events may be required.

What You'll Do

  • Support the recruiting process by posting positions, reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, communicating with candidates, and coordinating offers and pre-employment activities.
  • Help create a welcoming onboarding experience by preparing new-hire materials, coordinating first-day activities, and supporting new employee orientation.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in the HRIS, including new hires, promotions, transfers, status changes, and terminations.
  • Prepare and organize employee documentation, personnel files, onboarding and offboarding records, and other confidential HR materials.
  • Serve as a backup for payroll-related activities and assist with payroll processes as needed.
  • Help plan and organize company events, employee recognition activities, orientations, trainings, meetings, and other HR programs.
  • Respond to routine questions from candidates, employees, and managers while providing timely, professional support.
  • Assist with HR reports, intern programs, audits, and department projects while gaining exposure to additional areas of Human Resources as your knowledge and experience grow.

What You'll Bring

  • Approximately one to three years of experience in human resources, recruiting, payroll, professional administration, or a related office-support role.
  • An associate degree, current college-level coursework, or a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business, or a related field.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in Human Resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage recurring responsibilities, deadlines, events, and changing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate employee information and documentation.
  • Professional verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Comfort learning HR technology and working within an HRIS.
  • A collaborative, customer-focused approach and a willingness to help wherever needed.
