The Assistant Dean of Curriculum, Pre-Clerkship serves as a vital leadership role within Academic Affairs, with primary responsibility for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the first two years of the medical curriculum.

Position Summary

The Assistant Dean for Curriculum, Pre-Clerkship collaborates with the assistant deans in Rockford and Chicago in leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of the pre-clinical curriculum for medical school years one and two (M1 and M2).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, innovation, and evaluation of the undergraduate pre-clinical curriculum by working with department heads/chairs, course directors, staff and individual course faculty.
  • Discuss program evaluation of medical school years one and two (M1 and M2) curriculum with students and faculty to bring about curricular improvement.
  • Serve as liaison on both local and college curriculum committees as a representative of academic affairs Peoria.
  • Collaborate with assistant deans/associate deans locally and across the college to develop and implement policies and procedures regarding the M1/M2 curriculum that are aligned with accreditation standards, guidelines, and educational outcomes.
  • Participate in regional and national presentations and other scholarly activities to highlight the work done on the Peoria campus.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) or PhD/EdD degree
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the education of medical students, including some involvement in either the medical school years one and two (M1 and M2) curriculum

The budgeted salary range for the position is $108,000 to $150,000 per year.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
