Position Title:Surgery Support Technician - Pediatric - Full Time - Days

Job Description:
General Description: Under immediate supervision, the Surgical Support Technician is responsible for a variety of duties in support of the Surgical Suites Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position.
Transports patients, specimens, supplies, blood, and equipment as directed. Ensures all procedures are followed for the safe transport of blood and other specimens. Responsible for transporting patients and families to appropriate areas or waiting rooms. Observes and communicates any changes, such as patient not being ready, to the OR desk or charge nurse. May be required to take emergency action. Helps move and position patients in the Surgical Suite as needed. Completes required documentation. Immediately reports any changes in patient's condition during transport. Performs daily and/or weekly cleaning within the Surgical Suites. Follows established procedures and guidelines for cleaning operating rooms. Maintains the cleanliness of the department which includes cleaning hallways, bathrooms, lounges, and supply areas. Complies with all relevant procedures and regulations related to hospital sanitation, cleanliness, and safety. Ensures that all procedures and regulations for proper disposal of waste items and material are followed. Responsible for restocking supplies, linens, and solutions. Performs other support services as requested.
General Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: No experience required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to perform tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques. Good communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with hospital staff and patients. Ability to function effectively as a member of a team. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to perform effectively in an emergency situation.
