Lecturer - Labor Studies

The Department of Labor Studies seeks applicants for a part-time, non-tenure track lecturer position during the 2026-2027 academic year.

The department is seeking a candidate who specializes in issues pertaining to courses on contemporary U.S. labor unions, race, and precarious workers; as well as labor sociology and the sociology of work

Lecturer appointments are established according to the instructional needs and budget constraints of the department.

Applications will be kept on file for consideration for any openings that may occur throughout the year. Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, and the writing and grading of assignments and exams.

Ph.D. or terminal degree preferred, but not required. Applicants who are advanced to Ph.D. candidacy or who have a M.A., MF.A., or equivalent may be considered (currently enrolled UC students are not considered). Priority will be given to candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching Labor Studies or proven industry expertise in labor. Please indicate your areas of specialization.

Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and any appropriate collective bargaining agreement. See Table 15 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $73,817 - $76,032.

This position is represented by the University Council - American Federation of Teachers. Internal applicants will be considered for reappointment prior to the consideration of external applicants.
