Location: Grand Rapids, Lansing, or Farmington Hills, MI

Employment Type: Full-Time

For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together-our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Transportation Engineer to help us keep building.

Working with our Transportation team, you will support and lead roadway and freeway design projects that shape local communities while collaborating with clients, agencies, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams across Michigan and the Midwest.

What You'll Do

  • Lead or support plan production and technical design for roadway and freeway projects using MicroStation OpenRoads, Geopak, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, local agencies, MDOT, and contractors to deliver high-quality transportation projects.
  • Assist with or lead project budgets, schedules, and technical/marketing proposals.
  • Prepare quantities and construction cost estimates for bidding.
  • Provide or support storm sewer drainage design, signing plans, pavement markings, maintenance of traffic plans, and 3D modeling.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with clients, agencies, and internal teams across Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-10+ years of roadway engineering experience; MDOT and local agency project experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license in Michigan preferred and required for senior-level candidates.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/Geopak required; AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HY8, StormCAD, and 3D modeling is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Occasional field work may require light lifting, sitting, walking, accessing and maneuvering around project sites, traveling to and from projects, using communication and documentation equipment, and visual acuity to perform responsibilities.

What We Offer

Our staff members enjoy a comprehensive compensation package that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Wellness reimbursement and activities
  • Reimbursement and support for tuition, continuing education, and professional/personal development
  • Vacation and sick time, volunteer PTO, parental leave, and paid holidays
  • Opportunities for hybrid and flexible schedules
  • 401(k), profit sharing, and stock ownership opportunities (employee ownership)
  • And more!

We are an equal-opportunity employer that is committed to diversity. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.
